Six people were shot, one fatally, Sunday afternoon outside a restaurant in Morgan Park on Chicago’s Far South Side, authorities said.
Chicago police confirmed six people were shot about 1:50 p.m. in the 11600 block of South Western Avenue. One of the people shot — who police said was the “targeted individual” — died from his injuries, officials said.
Five people were transported to local hospitals and one man has since been pronounced dead, authorities said.
“He was dining outdoors under a tent when a white colored SUV drove up and fired shots striking him,” Chicago police said in a preliminary statement.
Authorities did not have details about the severity of the injuries of the other five people. Their ages and genders also were not released.
