National Dog Day celebrates all breeds, pure and mixed and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, either from public shelters, rescues and pure breed rescues. National Dog Day honors family dogs and dogs that work selflessly to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day – for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for the disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and pulling victims of tragedy from wreckage.

So I hear it’s #NationalDogDay. PERFECT because I’m obsessed with my puppy and I really need an excuse to show him off more pic.twitter.com/LKUA3uGd8x

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Summer is not over yet, and it’s important to remember that if you’re traveling with your pets, it’s dangerous to leave them in an unattended car.

When it’s hot outside, it’s even hotter inside your car. On an 80-degree day, the temperature inside you car can warm up to 99 degrees in just 10 minutes. In 20 minutes, the temperature can reach 109 degrees and after an hour, more than 120 degrees.

Email us your photos during the month of August to show us how much you love your pet!

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Dakin Humane Society is still open during this pandemic, and they have plenty of pets that need a forever home.

Most of the time we think about dogs and cats when it comes to adopting an animal at a local shelter. However, there are other furry friends like rabbits, hamsters, and guinea pigs that could also use a forever home.
