HOUSTON – A voluntary evacuation has been issued for zones A and B in Harris County, which are located along the county’s coast.

Zones A and B include places near Galveston Bay such as Webster, Seabrook, La Porte, Morgans Point, Nassau Bay, Clear Lake, El Lago, Taylor Lake Village and Shoreacres.

Jeff Lindner with the Harris County Flood Control District tweeted the Harris County ZIP codes that are currently under the voluntary evacuation notice.

Hidalgo said evacuees should go west. She urged drivers who don’t need to be on the roads to stay home so that evacuees can leave the coast as quickly as possible. She said tolls have been waived on toll roads to facilitate evacuation.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said all drivers should be off the road by 8 p.m. Wednesday. He said the only exception should be for essential travel.

CORRECTION: Hidalgo said Tuesday that Friendswood was part of the voluntary evacuation order, but the Friendswood Mayor Mike Forman said in a YouTube video posted Tuesday that the city is not under an evacuation order.
