Auroch Minerals has completed its first drill program for the horn-nickel discovery in WA, with the six-hole program confirming the presence of relatively shallow massive sulphide mineralization throughout the project area south of Leinster. The first hole in the program returned high grade mineralization weighing 5. 09m at 2. 06 percent nickel, 0. 6 percent copper and 0. 49 g / t palladium from 119. 91m borehole.
The second borehole has now also been logged and sampled, with the hole appearing to hit the target at 143 m depth and return 7. 2 meters of massive nickel sulfides with assays for this section are pending.
A report on Auroch’s program on the Horn prospect would be valued, backed up by drilling that has confirmed the presence of nickel sulfides over 500 meters of strike. Five of the six holes completed sulphide mineralization, with three of the holes returning massive sulphides.
Interestingly, the Horn prospect is already home to a JORC 2004 resource of 600. 000 tons at 1. 4 percent nickel and 0. 3 percent copper defined by only 12 drill holes that remains open along strike to the north and south.
Holes HNDD005 and HNDD006 were designed to test the extremities of the sulphide system and found spreading across the sulphide mineralization, suggesting that the holes may have been near the massive sulphide lodes. This fascinating theory will be put to the test in the coming weeks with electromagnetics in the borehole.
Auroch has also completed a single drill hole, HNDD003, to test a parallel sulphide lode identified via geophysics. The hole returned 1. 9 m massive sulfide of 134. 55m downhole indicating potential additions to the nickel system both alongside and alongside strike of known mineralization.
Initial test results have confirmed our observations that the mineralization on the horn includes thick lenses of high grade massive nickel sulfides, which are also rich in copper and PGE (platinum and palladium). . The sulphide mineralization is relatively homogeneous and consistent, which is a good sign for both our upcoming testing and future exploration programs.
The initial diamond drill program has successfully confirmed thick, continuous, massive nickel sulfide mineralization over 500 meters of strike that is within 150 meters of surface. Our new understanding of the structural control of the Horn prospect has opened up exciting potential for additional nickel sulfide mineralization along strike. We are eagerly awaiting the results of the DHEM investigations and upcoming tests in order to complete our geological model and complete the drilling planning for our next drilling program on the Horn planned for early next year.
The Horn prospect is part of Auroch’s Leinster nickel project in Eastern Goldfields, WA. The project includes six exploration licenses located 40 km south of the town of Leinster and covering more than 300 square kilometers of the Leinster nickel province, which is one of the most productive nickel areas in the world.
The Nickel Province of Leinster has a number of Tier 1 mineral deposits, including the massive 185 million tonne honeymoon fountain warehouse near the town of Wiluna in the north and the Leinster Group deposits, which include the 21 million tonne Perseverance Mine, in which ores are extracted, with an average grade of 2. 4 percent nickel.
Auroch’s main focus in Leinster was the prospects for Valdez and Horn surrounding the closed Waterloo nickel mine. Waterloo was put into production by Norilsk Nickel in 2005 with a resource of 1. 1 million tons at 1. 73 percent nickel before it fell to around 10 in 2008 after a dramatic drop in the nickel price. $ 000 per ton was closed.
Waterloo provides a useful measure of the amount and grade of ore that may be required to operate profitably in the area. Since nickel is back in trend and with more than 16. 000 tons is traded, the well-placed Auroch seems to be in the box seat with his booty of nickel sulfide targets over the eastern gold fields.
Auroch continues its innovative exploration program across the gold fields and juggles countless exploration programs before Christmas. The company is currently completing 6. 000 m Aircore over the goals of the Saints and Leinster projects and joins the reverse circulation rig, which is also in use at Saints. In addition, the geophysical crews downhole will likely be busy exploring the various drill holes in Valdez, Horn and Saints, potentially providing a number of new targets for further exploration.
With a full set of drill rigs in play and geophysical surveys hoping to light up the night, Auroch is unlikely to slow down anytime soon. Add to the noise a new drill program scheduled to begin in Nepean in January 2021. There’s a lot to watch with this busy explorer.
