A diver fought an 8-foot hammerhead shark with his camera staff while it speared off the coast of Australia.
Dion Creek from Queensland was hunting for crabs alone in Magpie Reef near Princess Charlotte Bay when the shark struck.
The horrific moment was captured in front of the camera and shows the huge shark that appears out of nowhere and rushes towards the diver.
As the shark plunges towards Dion, the video shows the diver plunging in the water with flashes of the shark’s fins and tail.
Mr. Creek said, « I was just about to set the camera, I’ve just caught the shark that comes out of the corner of my eye. «
The diver explained how he was forced to push the 8 foot shark three times with his camera stick before he could break free.
He said, « I pressed the first time, it came up to me again. I hit it the second time and pushed it away the third time just to push it away.
« I was the only person in the water, there were only two people in the boat.
« Looking back, I’m actually pretty happy, but at the time it didn’t bother me.
« I don’t want to be a statistic so next time I need to be more careful and take more safety precautions and have another diver in the water. ”
The father joked after he had survived his brush in danger: « Next week I will buy a lottery ticket. ”
