Nov. . 26 (UPI) – The Baltimore Ravens have imposed discipline on a coach in connection with the team’s recent spike in COVID-19 cases, affecting players and staff, causing the game to be postponed.
Baltimore announced the move on Wednesday. The decision was made amid a COVID-19 outbreak within the team that resulted in several players and coaches testing positive for COVID-19.
Sources reported to NFL Network and CBS Sports that a strength and conditioning coach was fined by Ravens for not reporting symptoms and for not consistently wearing a mask or tracking device.
« The Baltimore Ravens have disciplined an employee for conduct related to the recent COVID-19 cases affecting Ravens players and employees, » the team said on Wednesday.
The planned Thanksgiving match between the Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers has also been postponed to Sunday due to the outbreak.
« This decision was made out of caution, to ensure the health and safety of players, coaches and match day staff, and in consultation with medical experts, » the NFL said in a statement Wednesday when it announced the postponement.
The Steelers-Ravens matchup is 13th. This season’s NFL game postponed or postponed due to issues related to COVID-19. It was the first game to be postponed since week 5.
The Steelers house the ravens at 1:15 p.m.. m. EST on Sunday at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
