Betty Klimenko reached out on social media to share her thoughts after confirming that Penrite will no longer sponsor Erebus Motorsport.
The oil company announced this today after spending a little over five years at Erebus, ultimately taking over the naming rights to both of the Melbourne-based team’s Supercars championship entries.
The exit comes amid a series of staff departures from Erebus, including full-time drivers David Reynolds and Anton De Pasquale, the former of whom had just signed a 10-year contract, and their race engineers.
Klimenko again used her Facebook page to comment on news about her squad, admitting the Penrite move « a bit disappointing » but attributing it to a « business decision ». .
« I can tell you that I am not personally upset about this as this is a business and Penrite is doing what they think is best for their company.
« We all forget this is a business and blame people, events, and unrelated incidents for what is actually a business decision.
« I’m not going to lie, it’s a bit of a disappointment, but I wish Penrite all the best and thank you for your longstanding support.
“And for us as a company, all of this means that we are looking for new sponsors, doing what we do best, having confidence in our team and our drivers, and going out there and racing and finishing on the podium. ”
Klimenko also stated that she has confidence in the new looking Erebus crew and reiterated her support for team CEO Barry Ryan.
« When you say it out loud, it sounds like Erebus has lost a lot, » she noted as the contribution continued.
« But if you look at what we’ve been doing over the past few weeks, the people who have come on board now, you can see that we’ve put together a team that goes out there and shows us why we’re doing it have trust them.
« I know people have made comments about the why and the fact that I always stand up for Barry, but I don’t care. « .
“It’s that simple, I know the man and he is worth more than many, both personally and professionally. ”
On the final remarks, Klimenko added: “We will NOT put our head between our knees and give up. ”
Tom Moore has been promoted from a role as data engineer while George Commins is transferring from Kelly Racing to the other position as race engineer.
