Real Madrid travel to Andalusia to avoid consecutive defeats as pressure mounts on manager Zinedine Zidane and his Galacticos.
Recent Champions League defeats to Alaves and then Shakhtar Donetsk have dealt a huge blow to Real despite the Spanish giants taking a place in La Liga above their opponents in fourth place in today’s match.
Like Real Madrid, Sevilla are back after a discouraging defeat in Europe after losing 4-0 to Chelsea thanks to a four-fold from Olivier Giroud.

Sevilla received a free kick after Casemiro’s later challenge and Gudelj sought his place in the near lower corner.
The Madrid talisman tried to turn around its opponent, but was stopped with a heavy blow in its tracks.
72 min. : The hosts have started to dictate possession again but are struggling to create clear opportunities for this elusive equalizer.
67min: Madrid have also made a change. Marco Asensio, who was perhaps the best artist midweek, was featured in place of Rodrygo.
Nemanja Gudelj, Suso and Youssef En-Nesyri have replaced Joan Jordan, Luuk de Jong and Ivan Rakitic.
In truth, it was a good start from Madrid, but the goalkeeper’s indecision, which was already visible to everyone several times this afternoon, cost his team.
60 minutes: Luka Modric has also entered the book alongside his midfield partner Toni Kroos after pulling off Fernando’s jersey.
Real Madrid have the breakthrough! It might even be an own goal by Sevilla goalkeeper Bono, but Zinedine Zidane doesn’t mind.
A quick counterattack by the visitors resulted in Ferland Mendy pushing the ball into the box.
Vinicius Jr. shot to the near post and managed to touch the ball forward to overcome the impasse.
Jesus Navas threw a cross into the box at the tall striker, who resisted his body as he jumped into the air and triggered a weak kick over the head.
Lucas Ocampos threw a devilish ball from the right flank into the box, but Luuk de Jong lost his balance at the crucial moment and was unable to parry his shot.
48min: The substitute Oliver was involved immediately after the restart. His crossfield pass on the other hand was great, but Luuk de Jong was unable to control when the ball was worked down the line to him.
The hosts have made a change – Oliver Torres has replaced Munir, who had an Achilles tendon problem in the final seconds before the break.
There’s the whistle for the break. It was certainly a lively encounter with some notable chances but we are still waiting for that first goal.
Real Madrid have shadowed it so far but Seville posed a threat on the counter and with their deliveries from far positions.
44min: Toni Kroos was shown the first yellow card of the game after holding out his arm to fend off Lucas Ocampos.
The hosts won their first corner of the game moments before but failed to capitalize on their aerial presence as Thibaut Courtois easily set up the cross.
38min: That was a brilliant parade by Bono. Lucas Vasquez drove to the right side of the box and passed the ball over for Karim Benzema.
Vinicius Jr’s clever dummy gave Benzema a clear view of the goal, but his bow was perfectly parried.
36min: Sevilla advance again through Jesus Navas, who wanted to dig a flank into the penalty area.
However, the referee committed a foul for Madrid after Nacho Fernandez got tangled up with Luuk de Jong on the edge of the box.
32 min. : Munir was knocked down around 30 meters from Madrid’s goal and the hosts received a free kick.
The set piece was briefly worked out by Joan Jordan and Jesus Navas. The full back was then eventually delivered into the box but a shot from the penalty spot was cleared.
28min: Madrid won a corner but Vinicus Jr couldn’t hold the ball when Sevilla partially cleared the lines.
Jesus Navas was then released into space on the right flank, but his attempt at the cross was cut out by Luka Modric.
25min: At the other end, space was kindly opened for Munir after a long ball forward caused all possible dangers and triggered a handball scream.
It took the striker too long to score a pass, however, and Raphael Varane took on a well-timed challenge to abandon the attack.
The tricky striker was involved again on the edge of the box and put Toni Kroos on, who rippled his shot just inches from the top right corner.
This was hit from a similar position to Casemiro’s earlier attempt as shown below, but was definitely much closer.
Madrid had their best opening after pressure on Bono in their box but Karim Benzema simply couldn’t get his header home after Diego Carlos’ excellent work.
16min: Toni Kroos took the set piece and delivered it to the box. Bono caught another cold and dealt with the cross with a weak release.
Karim Benzema picked up the loose ball and tried to force it back into the penalty area, but Fernando was able to cut it out.
14 min. : A raking crossfield ball puts Ferland Mendy deep into Seville’s half on the left and Lucas Ocampos trips all over his back at the expense of a free kick.
11 min. : Joan Jordan found herself back on the near side and was given the space and time to whip another diabolical cross into the box.
However, the ball was fired with a little too much force and nobody in white could hit it.
9 min. : Sevilla pushed the other end down and tested Real’s backline for the first time.
A deep flank was dragged towards the towering Luuk de Jong, who collected a weak header towards the goal.
6min: It was a good start from the visitors. Casemiro tried his luck on the edge of the box on the left, but leaned comfortably past the far post.
Bono was just a few moments later by Vinicius Jr. and Karim Benzema quickly put under pressure.
The ball was horribly deflected into the air and toward the long post, only Diego Carlos was able to scoot back and leave the line.
4 minutes: Karim Benzema was frustrated at the first opening in Madrid. Vinicius Jr. chose to shoot from a narrow angle rather than square for his captain, who raised his arms in dismay.
Rodrygo picked up the ball on the right flank and took Vinicius Jr. who shot an arrow in the direction of the front post into the penalty area.
Will Real Madrid hold off pressure from Zinedine Zidane? Or will Seville increase the pressure and move in front of their opponents?
After Real Madrid’s hopes in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk had suffered a near fatal blow, Sergio Ramos is said to have called for a heated meeting of players.
The 34-year-old captain of the club is said to have used the showdown to highlight the importance of the club’s crunch game with Borussia Mönchengladbach next week.
With just one win in the last five Champions League games against Inter Milan, this is a crucial fight for Real Madrid.
Seville boss Julen Lopetegui was dismissed from Real Madrid two years ago after just two months of the season.
Today he can possibly bring his counterpart closer to the same fate.
The 54-year-old has impressed since taking office in Andalusia and, at the end of last season, memorably led the club to Europa League glory.

The legendary Frenchman has led the club to a hat-trick with Champions League trophies and national successes – but speculation about his future is rising again this season due to his rapid form.
Two straight defeats to Alaves and Shakhtar Donetsk have already kept their season in limbo. Another loss today would allow Sevilla to skip them to fourth place.
You are also without several key players. Eden Hazard and Sergio Ramos both missed out.
Bono, Jules Kounde, Aleix Vidal, Fernando, Joan Jordan, Lucas Ocampos, Munir, and Luuk de Jong all deserved callbacks.
And Real Madrid have made two changes to the team that lost at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Vinicius Jr. and Casemiro have returned to the team instead of Marco Asensio and Martin Odegaard.

This is certainly another rigorous test for Zinedine Zidane’s side, and the boss under fire will be fully aware that he needs positive results. . . and fast!
Their fate in the Champions League hangs in the balance and the La Liga defending champions are already seven points behind the top spot.
Sevilla will be hoping to bounce back this afternoon and add to the misery after suffering their own European setback against Chelsea mid-week.
