World news – Borderlands 3 Director’s Cut DLC adds a new raid boss and murder secrets

The looting and shooting never seem to stop on Pandora. Gearbox has announced that their next Borderlands 3 DLC, the Director’s Cut, will be released on March 18th as part of Season Pass 2. He’s adding a nasty new raid boss, murder mystery missions, and new loot-filled challenges.

Announced yesterday, Hemovorous is the Invincible, a tall, lairy Varkid who « drops some of the best loot in the game » , one of the biggest additions to the Director’s Cut. To get the right to go head to toe with her, you must complete the main campaign. And you’ll probably want to bring your best gear too, as Gearbox says it’s « one of the biggest challenges for the endgame » out there.

The Director’s Cut also adds detective missions. The gearbox didn’t give too much away, but it seems you can’t rely on just one trigger to solve it. Instead, you need to put on your detective hat, inspect crime scenes, and look for clues about the environment. I’m into that variety and it will refresh my brain from time to time when it comes to autopilot mode.

Three timed vault cards also come with the Director’s Cut. These are basically three challenges to complete for cosmetic rewards and « super powerful equipment that scales at your level ». While it’s hardly anything special, get in touch with me. I’m a sucker for loot, and that gives me more of it.

As a final touch, the Director’s Cut throws content behind the scenes of the game, such as lost maps, storyboards, and concept art.

Still, I’m not sure how it all really makes a Director’s Cut? Seems like a pretty standard DLC pack to me.

Oh, and on other good Borderlands news, Gearbox also announced that Tales From The Borderlands is making a comeback. The episodic Borderlands spinoff from Telltale Games was taken off sale after the company closed, but will be back on the menu next week.

The Borderlands 3 Season Pass 2 is available on Steam for £ 25 / $ 30 and includes the previously released Designer’s Cut DLC.
