World news – Federal agencies are investigating the abuse after Florida manatee was found with « Trump » on its back

Officials are investigating after a Florida manatee was mistreated last weekend.

The Citrus County Chronicle reports that the US Fish and Wildlife Service is currently searching for information about a manatee who was scratched in the back with « Trump » near the blue hole on the Homosassa River.

According to the FWC, manatees are considered « threatened » in Florida and it is illegal to touch them. Manatees are also protected by the Florida Manatee Sanctuary Act of 1978, which states, « It is for any person at any time, intentionally or negligently, to annoy, harass, molest, or disturb a manatee. »

Last February, a Tampa Bay man knocked a manatee out of his boat with a fishing rod and faced a $ 2,000 fine.

Anyone with information about this animal’s « Trump » cockroach can call the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s hotline at 888-404-3922 with information.
