The Alpine Formula 1 team confirms that the Spanish driver is conscious and in a good mood and is waiting for another test in Switzerland.
Just one month before the Formula 1 tests before the The alpine cyclist Fernando Alonso was hospitalized after a bicycle accident in Switzerland. The Spanish racer is « conscious and good of himself » – which means he is in good spirits – while awaiting further test tomorrow, the team said in a statement. Alonso is expected to return to the Formula 1 championship after leaving the sport in 2018 after some lackluster seasons with McLaren. He returned to the team he won two championships with, Renault, recently renamed Alpine.
Pre-season testing will take place March 12-14 in Bahrain. The Bahrain Grand Prix for the season opening is scheduled for March 28th. As Autosport points out, Alpine has yet to confirm its reserve driver for 2021 if Alonso can’t drive in a month, it’s unclear who will fill in.
