Well, this has been an eventful week. While Tottenham Hotspur transfer news has completely taken over North London the past few days, the squad has traveled to Bulgaria to kick off its Europa League campaign. It seems like forever ago that Spurs looked lifeless against Everton, but just five days later the team will again take the pitch. This will unfortunately be a common theme over the next month, with matches set across three competitions.

Spurs have made the three-hour trip to take on Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the second round of Europa League qualifiers. This is the first of (potentially) three one-round legs before the group stage of the competition. On one hand, having one-legged ties instead of two means for three fewer matches in an already busy schedule. However, it also gives Tottenham very little margin for error in the qualifiers.

Lokomotiv Plovdiv finished second in the Bulgarian First League last season and beat Montenegrin side Iskra Danilovgrad in the first qualifying round to set up the contest with Spurs. This is the home side’s second year in a row in the Europa League; last season’s campaign reached the third round before falling to Strasbourg of Ligue 1.

Tottenham supporters have been fortunate to enjoy four straight seasons of Champions League football, but all good things come to an end. The last time Spurs played in the Europa League was after dropping down from the Champions League in 2017, losing to Gent in the Round of 32. On paper this should not be close, especially with a decent number of starters making the trip, but in a distant country in a one-off qualifier, literally anything can happen.

So Turner Media makes this about as clear as mud, but the match is apparently free to stream in the United States… IF you download and stream the game through the Bleacher Report app or website (NOT the Bleacher Report Live app). Don’t bother trying to pay a monthly subscription fee to Turner, unless you already paid the $10 to mistakenly watch the Spurs friendlies last month. You don’t need it.
