World News – GB – Birmingham City’s best XI after Aitor Karanka transfer

Birmingham City have signed on 11 new players and offered themselves a plethora of selection options, especially behind their squad’s back – but who is their best team?

Maybe not eleven new hires that could be shaped into a cohesive squad in the strict sense of the word, but eleven arrivals that completely transformed Aitor Karanka’s squad.

The new head coach has a plethora of options at his disposal and the spine on his side seems more robust than any other at Blues for a long, long time

But with so many new faces, the question is worth asking, Which is Birmingham City’s best XI?

Let’s work on the basis that everyone is fit including Josh McEachran and Jonathan Leko and I’ll limit myself to a 4-2-3-1 given that ? s what Karanka is most likely to do

Neil Etheridge is a no-brainer – and there’s not a lot of talk about full-backs, so it’s Maxime Colin and Kristian Pedersen

However, there is plenty of talk to be done in the middle half where Harlee Dean, George Friend, Jake Clarke-Salter and Marc Roberts are the frontline center-backs, with Mikel San Jose as an option.

The one who jumps off the page for me is and has the highest cap, along with rhythm and distribution, is Clarke-Salter who operates on the left side

This leaves us with the choice of moving Friend to the right or staying with Harlee Dean – ???? and it’s a tough call

I will say Dean because he is the man in possession of the position, has played well so far this season and is dynamic in the air in both boxes

A rejuvenated Sunjic is the one with the most energy – ???? and plays well, so he gets one of those places

The other is really a coin toss between Clayton and San Jose – ???? who you would expect to be an absolute class act

All of this is very hard for Gary Gardner who is the right horse for some of the courses the Blues will face

I’m running out of timeClayton because he’s the currently known amount Ask me again after two games in San Jose, though

Scott Hogan leads the line for me, he has the mobility to handle the chains and only needs half a chance to score a goal

Two of the three behinds are easy picks, chic Ivan Sanchez and fleeting efficiency Jeremie Bela – ???? although the latter does not want to go through too many periods of play

Which brings us to No 10 place We’ve mostly seen Jon Toral – and he hasn’t done enough to win the argument yet

Dan Crowley deserves a shot, Riley McGree is an unknown but if he is in good shape I would go with Jonathan Leko as second striker Pace kills and he has plenty
