World News – GB – Coronation Street’s Antony Cotton explains why same actor reprized his role as son

Antony Cotton of Coronation Street spoke about the specific reason the same actor has his role reprized as on-screen son Dylan

It’s been a decade since Dylan, including Sean’s son and friend Violet Wilson, was last seen onscreen, but he’s been mentioned regularly

Now actor Liam McCheyne is back to play Dylan 10 years after being cast for the first time as the ITV soap opera alongside his twin brother Connor

And Antony revealed the reason why Liam agreed to come back to the street and why it was the right call

« For me there would never be one boy who was going to play with him and who was going to be either Liam or Connor, » said the 45-year-old.

« Because I had known them since they were two and a half, three and kept in touch with them So I saw them grow up »

Antony explained that Liam is the one who continued to perform, appearing on ITV’s The Bay and Last Tango in Halifax

« It’s a real pleasure for me because I watched them grow up, » says Antony of the teenager’s return to set

« I found pictures of us when we were younger, much younger and I look extraordinarily different and they were tiny little babas

« I love them because I saw them grow up And Liam is the one who came back and he’s brilliant When you see him he’s brilliant

« His mom Sam sent me a nice text the other day and told me the only reason, and I’m the one blowing smoke in my ***, they kept [playing ] because of you and their experience of the way I was with them

« Whenever they were inside we would cross the road to a cafe Whenever they were we would go to lunch for them to bond with me and all those years later when it is entered, it was as if nothing had changed «

Antony also said Liam’s return to the cobblestones of Weatherfield is long overdue, as he should have been back a year ago

« Originally this was supposed to happen 12 months ago with a different kind of story, » the actor said from Bury

« But things are as usual where something else was introduced and it was too similar, or something happened and it didn’t happen when it was supposed to. do it

« At the time, when I was told it wouldn’t happen, Iain [Macleod] also told me: ‘but don’t worry, it will happen but in this scenario but it will take some time ‘ »

He continued: « Then Covid came along It should have been on screen in April, but it all went wrong »
