September 30 (Renewables Now) – A company run by the Lithuanian green utility Ignitis Group, or AB Ignitis grupe, has completed the installation of a 3-MW solar power plant near Elektrenai in Obeniai

The new installation built by Ignitis Gamyba has been connected to one of the 1 MW in operation since the summer and the two now form the largest solar park in Lithuania and the Baltic states, according to a statement from the company Ignitis notes that in the event that demand for remote solar power plants continues to grow, the plant can be expanded to 65 MW

The 4 MW of combined capacity will generate up to 100 GWh of electricity and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 74,000 tonnes over the life of the project

The new plant is linked to the Ignitis Saules parkai platform, which allows residents to buy or rent part of a solar park offered by any developer
