Police spotted a car driving at high speed on Frederick Road, Salford on Wednesday evening with the vehicle being chased and then colliding with two others

Officers on patrol in Salford spotted a car traveling at a speed of about 11 hours40h on Wednesday before starting a chase

During the chase on Frederick Road, the car collided with two third-party vehicles, leaving a man and a woman seriously injured

Photos from the scene show police on the street near three cars, one of which had two of its doors removed and partially covered with a sheet

A high performance Audi belonging to the Greater Manchester Police was parked next to the damaged cars

Route B, which crosses the River Irwell and the railroad tracks, is home to a number of businesses, as well as the University of Salford Podiatry Clinic

The two men in the chased vehicle were pronounced dead shortly after the crash, while the other patients, both from the same vehicle, were taken to hospital

A police press release added that, in accordance with normal procedure, the incident was referred to the Professional Standards Department of GMP and the IOPC Fund

The same road was closed in April after a « major accident » involving a car and a bicycle, with the cyclist suffering life-threatening injuries

A spokesperson said at the time: « Police were called just before 1 Sunday, April 12, 2020 at 40 p.m., with reports of a road collision involving a car and bicycle on Frederick Road in Salford

The force later added: « The cyclist was taken to hospital with potentially fatal injuries where he remains in serious condition »
