Tobin Heath and Christen Press scored their first goals for the Reds, as Manchester United Women beat West Ham 4-2 in the Women’s Super League

Casey Stoney’s side came out of the blocks, creating several chances early on, and found a breakthrough via Alessia Russo’s opener

Heath then added our second with his debut United goal, but West Ham picked up one thanks to Emily van Egmond before Russo was on target again just before the break

Rachel Daly slashed the Reds’ advantage to seemingly set up a grandstand with seven minutes to go, but substitute Press made sure there was no nervous end to the game, scoring the post shortly thereafter to secure a 4-2 win and extend our unbeaten start to five games

Before three minutes had passed, Stoney’s side had created three good chances A cross from the right ended at the feet of Russo, who could not control the ball The ball was cleared in Katie Zelem who shot on goal

Soon after, Russo had a great solo run, dribbling through several Hammers defenders before testing Mackenzie Arnold, who was quick to descend to save the forward’s attempt.

In the 20th minute, the Reds, in the Green Away Legacy Kit for the occasion, finally got the breakthrough our dominance deserved with a wonderfully crafted goal

Captain Zelem put a cross at the back post to Galton who returned the ball for Russo to touch home from inside the penalty area
Another quickly followed, as Heath beat his first goal for United

The American superstar received the ball from goalscorer Russo, took a throw-in and scored at home, leaving Arnold with no luck

The Hammers pulled one off in the 39th minute when van Egmond headed down and into the corner behind Mary Earps, but the hosts’ hopes of a return were quickly dampened by Galton and Russo

As with the first goal, Galton made a precise delivery for our No 23 to get home and United entered the 3-1 break

West Ham got their first chance after the restart when Daly whipped up a big cross, but no one was there to convert for the home side

United then almost put the game to bed Heath reunited with Russo, who set up Ella Toone for one-on-one, but his pushy effort far exceeded Arnold’s goal

After an hour, Stoney brought in Kirsty Hanson for Heath, with Hayley Ladd replacing Zelem minutes later

United put the pressure on with 20 minutes left but were unable to extend the lead after a series of corners, with Millie Turner – who scored the winner at Tottenham last week – coming close with a header which passed just above the bar

With seven minutes to go, the Hammers reduced United’s lead to a single goal after what looked like a looping Daly cross over Earps and

But just as the Hammers had fun ideas for a point, Press found herself unmarked at the far post to score the Reds’ fourth of the game.
