World News – GB – You can now get £ 10,000 government grant to improve your home – how to apply

Homeowners across England will be able to apply for Green Homes grants from the end of September

Homeowners can get grants of up to £ 10,000 to pay for green upgrades such as cavity wall insulation or ground source heat pumps

The government’s £ 2billion green house subsidy program will help cover the cost of making more energy efficient properties or installing low carbon heating

As part of this scheme, the government will provide a voucher to cover two-thirds of the cost of qualifying upgrades, up to a maximum of £ 5,000

People with low incomes and receiving certain benefits may be able to obtain a grant covering the full cost of the work, up to a maximum of £ 10,000

The program is open to all homeowners, as well as private and social owners. They will be able to apply from the end of September, but potential applicants are encouraged to get quotes from certified traders before the program starts.

Successful applicants will have until March 31, 2021 to use their voucher and make the improvements

Trevor Johnson, Energy Efficiency Cabinet Member at Newcastle Borough Council, encourages residents to take advantage of grants available

He said: « This is a really fantastic program that could help many households in the borough to make their homes more energy efficient

â ???? The substantial grant could mean the difference between getting the job done â € “ or not I encourage anyone who might be suitable for this program to applyâ ????

Vouchers must be used to install at least one ‘primary measure’ which can be insulation or a low carbon heating system

This can include insulation of solid walls, under the floor, cavity walls or attics, or ground source heat pumps, solar thermal or biomass boilers

Once they have included a primary metric, owners can also spend their voucher for a “secondary” metric

But there are some upgrades that will not be funded by the program, such as building a new extension or converting your home, insulating a veranda without a fixed heater, or installing a new fossil fuel boiler

Government says more than 600,000 households in England will benefit from the program, which will also support 100,000 green construction jobs

Merchants must register for the TrustMark accreditation or Microgeneration Certification Scheme to participate in the program

Business and Energy Secretary Alok Sharma said: “Green home improvements will save people money on their energy bills, reduce carbon emissions and create new jobs for thousands of builders, plumbers and other craftsmen

« Our TrustMark program will ensure that construction work is carried out to high standards by accredited craftsmen, thus ensuring total consumer protection »
