Welcome to Sportstar’s live blog for the ISL 2020-21 game between Kerala Blasters FC and Odisha FC on Thursday.

KBFC manager Kibu Vicuna: First of all, I would like to join the Kerala Blasters Fans apologize because our performance wasn’t good enough tonight. After this game, it is very difficult to feel good about the work we are doing. We switched off especially after the second goal. They (Odisha FC) won every second ball and dominated us on the field. It is very difficult to analyze this game as we have very few positive results. I don’t like excuses and am fully responsible for tonight. I’ve always believed in my players and I was completely satisfied with the summer recruitment. We must work together to overcome this slump.

OFC head coach Stuart Baxter: I am relieved and pleased with the boys. This group of players worked so hard. They understood the situation and stepped forward. My feeling is secondary now, it’s all about my players. We worked to have Jacob (Tratt) as a right-back. We played with two center-backs as opposed to three and pushed Jacob onto the field. He connected well with Jerry (Mawihmingthanga) and Daniel (Lalhlimpuia) and it helped us. I’m glad the change in strategy worked this time. We conceded a stupid goal, but the players left that behind and won the game. (Manuel) Onwu’s injury was unfortunate, but I hope he returns soon. I really believe in my players and if they keep doing their best on the pitch, I’ll be happy whether it’s a win, a loss or a draw.

Odisha FC have finally won their first 2020-21 Indian Super League victory. It took nine games but that should be satisfactory for Stuart Baxter and his side.

Meanwhile, Kerala Blasters FC have started the game brilliantly. However, it lost steam very early. Diego Mauricio and Company came out all guns blazing after conceding.

An own goal, a tap-in from captain Steven Taylor and a brace from Mauricio prevented Jordan Murray from kicking off as OFC beat KBFC tonight. Gary Hooper’s later consolation might have helped the GD a bit.

He escaped a Kerala player and passed the ball to Diego Mauricio, who set up Jerry Mawihmigthanga in the penalty area. Jerry, who was in a very good position, slams the ball over the bar.

Kerala Blasters FC dominated the first 20 minutes of the game. Given the number of chances, it could easily have scored more than one goal. But Odisha FC paid off the lost opportunities by scoring two goals and taking the lead before the break. Forty-five minutes to go. Stay tuned!

45 2 ‘SUBSTITUTION! Kerala’s manager Kibu Vicuna has to make a change as Nishu Kumar is injured. The Indian full-back is replaced in the middle by Bakary Kone.

45 ‘Two minutes of added time at the end of the first half! Odisha FC looks much better now. Kerala Blasters FC is a little bit crazy.

42 ‘GOAALLLL !!!!! STEVEN TAYLOR SCOREESSS !!!!!!! ODISHA 2 – 1 KERALA !!! The Blasters Defense just fell asleep there. It was an OFC free kick. Jerry Mawihmingthanga took it. His cross in the penalty area fell straight to skipper Taylor, who hit the ball home with his right foot.

38 ‘BLOCK! Nandhakumar Sekar receives the ball on the edge of the box for Odisha FC. He dribbles past a Kerala Blasters player and shoots on goal. But the ball is blocked. The rebound falls on Jerry, who places the ball far from the goal.

22 ‘GOOOOOAAAALLLLL !!!!! OWN GOAL !!!! ODISHA 1 – 1 KERALA !!! The balance will come with a little luck. Jerry Mawihmingthanga finds Diego Mauricio with a good pass on the right. He hurried towards the box. The OFC striker’s low cross into the center hits Jeakson Singh’s leg and hits Albino Gomes as the ball hits the net.

18 ‘OFC CHANCE! Hendry Antonay offers a cross from the left flank. Diego Mauricio returns to Daniel Lalhlimpuia. Odisha striker unleashes a shot and Nishu Kumar uses a push attack to avert danger to Kerala.

16 ‘FOUL! One number 17 brings down another. Rahul KP defeats Jerry Mawihmingthanga from behind. He is very lucky not to receive a yellow card here.

13 ‘SHOT! Facundo Pereyra shoots from a distance with his left foot. He disturbs Arshdeep with it. The OFCgoalkeeper knocks out the ball. He could have caught it. The referee signals a throw-in for KBFC.

10 ‘CLOSE! Odisha approaches the gate, but the Kerala defenses are vigilant. There are calls for a foul right outside the penalty area, but the referee waves his hands.

7 ‘GOOOOAAALLLL !!!! JORDAN MURRAY SCORES !!! KERALA 1 – 0 ODISHA !! This was a long ball from Facundo Pereyra’s midfield. Rahul K. P. scored a header. Odisha steward Arshdeep saved. 5 ‘KERALA CHANCE! Jordan Murray gets the ball just outside the box. He dodges an opposing player and shoots at the target. But the ball goes straight to OFC goalkeeper Arshdeep Singh.

4 ‘Manuel Onwu has not started today’s game. He was replaced at the last moment by Daniel Lalhlimpuia in the XI. Looks like an injury.

3 ‘CORNER FOR ODISHA! A set piece this early in the game can always be dangerous. Jerry Mawihmingthanga sends a cross into the box from the right. The ball falls on captain Steven Taylor, who fails to hit the target with a header.

The seventh edition of the Indian Super League began on November 20th in a bio-bubble in Goa.

During the four-month tournament, eleven teams will play against each other in a league and playoff format at three venues . Following the inclusion of SC East Bengal, 115 games will be played this season, up from 95 last season.

Odisha FC are the only team not to win the 2020-21 edition of the Indian Super League. It will be hungry to open an account against Kerala Blasters at GMC Stadium in Bambolim, Goa on Thursday.

Kerala has only one win and is ninth out of eleven teams. The men from Kochi tried hard to score freely. The fact that they only scored eight goals – only the bottom Odisha scored fewer – should be a worrying statistic. But coach Kibu Vicuna is not discouraged. « The good thing is that we created opportunities, » he said.

« The bad thing is that we didn’t score. We are working to improve this aspect. Every game is different. “

He added that he had respect for Odisha. “You didn’t deserve to lose the last game against East Bengal. You have good players. So we’ll focus on having a good game, creating opportunities and taking them. «

His opposite number, Stuart Baxter agreed. » The biggest problem we have right now is that even though we’ve played well in most of the games, we haven’t been able to get any results from them, « said He. « Just put the ball in your net and prevent the ball from getting into your opponent’s net – how do we do this and how do we do it more efficiently? Although they play reasonably good football in most games and sometimes dominate, these will. » not translated into results. That can damage faith. «
