World news – Privacy flaws require urgent investigation

The massive intrusion into the privacy of any Tasmanian who has called an ambulance since last November is inexcusable.

This breach appears to have been going on for two months, and the private information currently remains public.

How much does this epic failure to protect Tasmanian privacy have to do with the under-equipping of Ambulance Tasmania?

And how will the Gutwein government make amends for the ambulance patients in Tasmania who have failed?

Urgent, rigorous investigation and absolute transparency from the government are required. Not only do we need to find out how this breach occurred, but also how it went undetected for so long.

People in the community need to trust how the information is collected and stored, and how privacy is maintained.
