Previously, the New Zealand Transport Agency reminded motorists to allow more time on the road to major centers today on either end of the North Island

A serious accident on SH1 near North Ave. closed the freeway just before 2 p.m. Motorists passing through the area were told to follow emergency services instructions and warned that there would have delays

Traffic is expected to be exceptionally heavy throughout the day on National Highway 1 at Kakakawa in the Bay of Islands heading south and passing through Kāpiti between Peka Peka and Ōtaki
