Candice Warner has defended her husband on the ugliest chapter of cricketer’s career, saying people don’t know the whole story

Candice Warner regrets a past incident in her life and wants to move on

Candice Warner suggested her husband, Australian cricket star David Warner, have more to say about the infamous 2018 ball tampering scandal and hinted fans didn’t know the full story of what had happened

Warner and then captain Steve Smith were banned from international and domestic cricket for 12 months, and opening batsman Cameron Bancroft was suspended for nine months, when the trio were found to be involved in using sandpaper to change the condition of the ball during a test match in South Africa two and a half years ago

Warner in particular has come under fire for his role in the scandal, after being identified by Bancroft as the ringleader who encouraged the youngster to cheat

However, speaking of the Channel 7 SAS Australia case, Candice hinted that there was more to the story

When asked if Warner tampered with the ball, Candice replied, « No That’s the opinion of other people. He never said his part »

« I think too many people are quick to pass judgment or opinion on myself or my family, » she added

« The media make us people we are not – bad people, bad parents »

Candice also opened up about an incident in South Africa where she was mocked by cricket fans wearing Sonny Bill Williams masks – a reference to her bathroom date with the soccer star at a Sydney hotel he 13 years ago

Candice and Warner have three children together, and the former ironwoman has opened up about the painful toll of sick taunts

« There have been incidents in South Africa where people try to make fun of me, make fun of me Put me down in front of my family, » she said

Smith and Bancroft both gave television interviews about the ball tampering scandal while serving their bans, but Warner has refused to open publicly about Australia’s biggest cricket controversy since the armpit incident in nineteen eighty one

Instead, he worked to refine his bad boy image and in February of this year he won the Allan Border Medal as Australia’s best cricketer

Warner Director James Erskine told the Sydney Morning Herald his client would « write a book » to tackle the sandpaper scandal someday, when the time is right

In a heart-wrenching interrogation scene on Channel 7, Candice, 35, confessed: « In my early twenties, I made a really big mistake

« I put myself in a situation where I shouldn’t have and because of that I brought embarrassment (and) shame to my family »

A member of the public used a cell phone to capture the connection between Candice and Williams at the Clovelly Hotel in the eastern suburbs of Sydney on a Saturday evening in April 2007

At the time, Candice, 22, was an ironwoman and Williams, 21, was playing for the Canterbury Bulldogs in the NRL
