Much of South East Queensland could be hit by dangerous storms that could inflict flash floods, giant hail and damaging winds
Severe thunderstorms and isolated « supercells » are possible for areas between Toowoomba and the Sunshine Coast and north of Bundaberg throughout Tuesday, the Bureau of Meteorology reported
« He should be more active in the afternoon and as the evening approaches, » meteorologist Rosa Hoff said
If severe thunderstorms do occur, they are likely to cause extreme weather conditions, such as heavy rains and massive hailstones
« This could include damaging wind gusts of over 90 km / h or destructive wind gusts of over 125 km / h, » Ms. Hoff said
Storms could also bring hail, measuring more than 2 inches, and heavy rains that can lead to localized flash floods, she added.
« The threat of the storm developing is spreading overnight and will continue into the morning, » she said
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have warned people to move their cars to cover and secure loose outdoor items
