World News – UA – ‘Fishermen raped’: One Nation’s James Ashby lashes out in TV interview

Chief advisor to Pauline Hanson gave bizarre TV interview following One Nation’s electoral blow in Queensland

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson says she is not concerned about the number of early votes and that she does not think Prime Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk will return

Deb Frecklington and the Liberal-National Party may have lost their chance to form government, but Queensland’s biggest election loser is Pauline Hanson and One Nation

The party’s statewide vote slumped almost 6% from the current tally, with heavy losses in key seats it hoped to win

This disastrous performance is a factor in the result of LNP, which would otherwise have benefited from a flow of preferences from One Nation

But James Ashby, Senator Hanson’s chief of staff and political strategist, denied the result was a disaster in a bizarre and rambling interview with ABC News

One Nation’s goal was to keep Stephen Andrew in Queensland’s central headquarters in Mirani, which he will comfortably occupy, Mr. Ashby

But during his live interview with ABC, he wore an orange campaign t-shirt for Wade Rothery, the party’s candidate for Keppel’s seat

M Ashby blamed One Nation’s poor performance on Annastacia Palaszczuk’s ‘fear game’ during the election campaign, referring to the coronavirus pandemic

« Labor played this card until the end COVID fears, and I also believe, that the Liberal-National Party certainly did not come up with a very good alternative government in this state »

47 or more seats to win, 85% called 0 in doubt Seats are called by our experts, official ECQ results

He also said cuts to regional media were impacting the ability of the candidates and Senator Hanson to get their messages out

« I also think something needs to be identified here as well, we have lost in every regional market in this state, (the) media And I can’t tell you how many local media have just evaporated from those markets

« Rockhampton, Gladstone, Mackay, they all lost their newspapers So folks – the only news they’ve had is from Brisbane and it has been just a massive fear campaign »

M Ashby also attacked the ABC, saying: « And you guys over there suck everything, the ABC is pretty big over there in Brisbane We have nothing in the regions »

It was pointed out that the CBA has the same resources as in the last Queensland election

It was then that M Ashby has gone on a bizarre tangent over the consequences of another term in power for Labor and Ms Palaszczuk

« This is exactly what is happening The bush is missing and I tell you what under this government of Palaszczuk they will miss even worse and it will be the farmers who will suffer and it will be you in the southeast corner who will suffer the most because your fruit and vegetable prices will explode

« The fishermen over there will be absolutely raped and looted and I tell you what, it will be the fault of Labor You look, it’s coming You have four years to suffer this »
