Pauline Hanson’s chief of staff James Ashby warned Queensland fishermen would be ‘raped and looted’ in bizarre TV interview after Annastacia Palaszczuk’s state election victory

One nation has taken a heavy blow with polls suggesting the party will win just 74% of the vote in the primaries – down 6% from the 2017 election

Analysts say party collapse helped Ms Palaszczuk to victory as the Labor leader became the first woman to win three consecutive terms in the Sunshine State

A M Visibly disappointed Ashby told ABC News the party had been given a ‘haircut’ and warned that residents of the Queensland area would suffer the most from a Labor victory

‘The bush is missing and I tell you what, under this Palaszczuk government, they will miss even worse and it will be the farmers who will suffer and it will be you in the south-eastern corner who will suffer mainly because the prices of your fruits and vegetables will soar,  » he said

‘The fishermen over there will be absolutely raped and looted and I tell you what, it will be the fault of Labor You look, it’s coming You have four years to suffer this’

The state’s first woman, Annastacia Palaszczuk, has since become the first woman to win three consecutive terms

M Ashby blamed the poor response from voters to closing newsrooms in the Queensland area, saying it was difficult to get a campaign message out when a number of local newspapers had been closed

« I also think something needs to be identified here as well, we have lost in every regional market in this state, (the) media, » he said

‘Rockhampton, Gladstone, Mackay, they all lost their newspapers So folks – the only news they’ve had is from Brisbane and it has been just a massive fear campaign’

M Ashby then accused Labor of playing on COVID-19 fears to get them across the finish line

‘Labor played this card to the end And I also think that the Liberal-National Party certainly did not come up with a very good alternative government in this state’

Despite his frustration, Mr. Ashby believed One Nation actually made a ‘zero net gain’ in the election

He referred to One Nation candidate Stephen Andrew who won the Mirani seat in central Queensland

‘He’s a guy who certainly is, obviously with a good reputation in this area.He kept that seat because of the good job he did’

One Nation leader Ms Hanson was also forced to fiercely defend her campaign record after the disastrous outcome

Instead of heading to TV screens to share her dissenting opinion on controversial topics, Senator Hanson has taken a ‘boots on the pitch’ approach

She has traveled much of the state to visit most of the 90 seats One Nation has

‘The difference is you have local media that don’t have the people on the ground to cover when I was there, I didn’t have an entourage to follow me’

She continued to lash out at the media for not giving it her attention while traveling the state, claiming the newspapers ‘don’t lean towards One Nation’

‘We put out press releases and policies that we advocate, but they weren’t interested the public had no idea, she says
