World News – UA – Magpies wants to avoid AFL island life

Collingwood star Jack Crisp says their defensive squad won’t get stuck on « an island » when they face the mighty West Coast forward line in the AFL playoff final Saturday night

The Magpies received a major reality check in the eighth inning this year when they managed to hide from the Eagles by 66 points in Perth

West Coast scored a stunning 183 out of 35 50m entries that day, Josh Kennedy scoring seven goals

Collingwood is lucky enough to redeem itself at Optus Stadium on Saturday and Crisp is confident it will offer a much better display

« We’re going to do our best to stay in the mix as a defensive group and really help each other out, so that we don’t get isolated and feel like we’re on an island

« We started off really well, but when they got the upper hand everyone just wanted to try and win on their own shoe, » Crisp said

« But we have to make sure we are constantly coming back to form and role, playing as a team, being predictable

« We felt like we were too easily separated defensively, on all parts of the pitch

« They managed to kick the ball right through us, find strikes very easily and move forward, they separated us

Crisp is convinced that the Magpies have enough avenues to aim for and win the flag for eighth place
