Police released new footage of a window assault on a Haymarket restaurant in Sydney earlier this year in hopes of uncovering the identity of the alleged attacker

A 23-year-old man was sitting with a friend at a Thomas Street restaurant around 915pm on Thursday February 27 as he was approached from behind by a stranger

Footage shows the man hitting the man sitting on the back of the head with a bottle of Corona beer as he walks past

As the confused staff and other diners approached the stage, the man returned to the seated man and ripped his glasses off, threw them in his face, then left the restaurant.

The injured man was taken to Saint-Vincent hospital where he received 14 stitches in his head

Eight months later, police released new CCTV footage of the incident, taken in the restaurant

« It’s a dogged act, to put it bluntly, » Detective Inspector David El-Badawi told 2 GB on Wednesday morning, noting that the victim was still suffering from headaches from the incident

« No words were exchanged, there was no interaction prior to this incident – it was completely unprovoked and random »

Earlier this year, police released footage of the man suspected of brandishing the bottle and of a man sitting at another table arriving together at Restaurant M El-Badawi said the full footage was released due to concerns for public safety

The first man was described as Asian in appearance, about 175-180 cm tall, of medium build, in his thirties, with short black hair The man is depicted in the vision wearing a black shirt and black pants

The second has been described as Mediterranean in appearance, approximately 180-185 cm tall, of medium build, in his thirties, with short black hair. The man is depicted in the vision dressed in a black shirt and ripped blue jeans
