SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) – Halloween weekend is underway, and Texoma continues to experience all the tricks and treats despite the pandemic

Local cheaters started Halloween weekend at Sherman’s downtown Trick-or-Treat in Travis on Thursday night and continued the festivities at Friday’s Caravan to Candyland event

« We have 24 vendors who are going to be here today to distribute candy. We have vendors like ReMax, Grayson County SCanner, The Grayson County Sheriff’s Department, City of Sherman’s Soldi Waste and City Council, among other local businesses. » said Dylan Johnson of Sherman Parks and Recreation

The Caravan to Candyland event, held at the Pecan Grove sports complex, was a drive-thru alternative to traditional tips or treatments to protect families from COVID-19

“We know the numbers are on the rise so just try to keep it realistic for everyone and safe for everyone,” Johnson said

The fun will continue on Saturday night in Denison for a new twist on their annual festivities, Monster Mash in Forest Park

« We are excited to be able to continue giving candy to children It will just be in a different way than we normally do We have pre-packaged candy and we will be giving it to Forest Park this year, » said Donna Dow of Denison Main Street

Same at Denison kicks off at 6 p.m. Parents can either drive to pick up their candy, or walk through the park and stay for a costume contest and screening of the Addam Family movie
