DETROIT – We are hours away from the Thursday morning virtual American Thanksgiving Parade – one of many things that will be different from years gone by.

In a normal year, Woodward Avenue would be closed for the big day the night before with a mile-long line of swimmers. Viewers will still see all the magic of the parade, but not in person.

« It will be fun and give people a chance to wake up and feel great on Thanksgiving morning, » said Tony Michaels, CEO and President of Parade Company.

The theme of the parade is « We are one together » – a tribute to the frontline workers and heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic.

« This year, the Grand Marshals are nine different people representing nine industries that have been and remain on the front lines, » said Michaels. « Our theme is ‘We are one together’ and no better way to express it. ”
