Roberts, née Victoria Leigh Blum, began her modeling career in the 1970s. During this time she met and married her husband, screenwriter Barry Roberts, with whom she was with until his death in 2006.

She switched to acting in 1975 and made her film debut in the horror film The Last Victim. Roberts played Julie Rogers and joined the show in 1980 when it was in a period of dramatic fluctuations. Farrah Fawcett was gone and the ratings were shaky. Roberts eventually swapped TV detectives for international spies and in 1985 took on the role of Bond girl Stacey Sutton in the film A View to a Kill, starring Roger Moore as James Bond.
