ST. LOUIS, Missouri – The Saint Louis Billikens used a 13-2 in the first half over a period of four minutes and achieved this advantage to score an 85:81 win against LSU in the Billiken Classic in the Chaifetz Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers fought back in the second half, rallying to score a three point in the final five minutes, and later finishing the game on one point within the final minute.

The LSU (1-1) will play their home opener on Monday evening at 7 p.m.. m. versus Southeastern at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The game will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network and streamed on SECN

Cameron Thomas again scored 10 field goals and four Treys in the leading LSU with 25 points, while Trendon Watford was two points behind his career high with 24 points. For the second game in a row, the second player led LSU with six assists, giving him 15 in two games. Javonte Smart also hit four Treys and had 18 points.

The trio scored 67 of the LSU’s 81 points and shot 24-of-38 off the field with nine Treys.

Javonte Perkins had a big night for Saint Louis (2-0) with 32 points and five assists, including four Treys and 8-8 on the free throw line. Gibson Jimerson added 16 points while Demarius Jacobs had 13 and Jordan Goodwin had 11.

Both teams achieved good shooting numbers with LSU 53. 8 percent for the game (28-52) with nine Treys. Saint Louis shot 55. 4 percent (31-56) with 10 Treys. Both teams shot over 61 percent in the second half of the game.

Saint Louis outperformed the LSU 30-22. The Billikens led at halftime with 10, 38-28 and just under 12 within the 16-minute mark of the second half.
