The Foo Fighters front man has spoken about the possibility of the band receiving the honor this year and has revealed who he wants to introduce them.

Dave Grohl has announced that he would like the former Police drummer Stewart Copeland inducts Foo Fighters into the Rock & Rock Hall of Fame.

These Learn To Fly rockers are among the nominees for honor in 2021 and receive one in the first year they were eligible Nod.

When asked by Howard Stern who he would like the band to introduce if they make it to Rock Hall this year, Grohl revealed that his response was based on his inspiration to make his demos anonymous.

« To be honest, » said Grohl, « this band started with this demo tape that I made ages ago. … I went to the studio for five days, played all the instruments, just took 13 or 14 songs Fun on me.  » Cassettes made. And I called it Foo Fighters because I really didn’t want everyone to know it was me. «

He continued, » One of the reasons I did this is because when I was young, someone gave me a record by an artist named Klark Kent. It was a strange thing like a marginal thing – ‘Klark Kent? Who is Klark Kent? ‘It sounded a lot like The Police … because it was actually Stewart Copeland. The Police drummer made this record under the name Klark Kent, he didn’t put his name on the record. They said, ‘Wow, who is Klark? Kent? That’s a bit rad. ‘And then someone says, [This is Stewart Copeland. ‘ »

The Everlong singer added that he thought » Stew would be a great guy to introduce the band, « adding, » If you’ve ever hung out with Stewart Copeland, he can give a fucking speech . The guy can « talk. »

However, Grohl claimed it would be his choice, not the band’s unanimous choice. The experienced guitarist Pat Smear had other ideas and suggested: « Dave’s mother », Virginia Grohl instead.

Other nominations for Rock & Roll Hall this year include Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Iron Maiden, the Go-Go’s and Dionne Warwick.

Repeated nominations come for Kate Bush, New York Dolls, Carole King, Rage Against The Machine, Devo, Tina Turner, Chaka Chan and LL Cool J.

If Foo Fighters were inducted into the Hall of Fame, this would be the second time Dave Grohl has received the award after being inducted into Nirvana in 2014.

The candidates will be announced in May. Rock Hall is planning a live ceremony in Cleveland this fall.

Fans can vote for their favorite artists on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame website until April 30th. The top five acts will be submitted as « fan ballots » alongside the ballots submitted by the music industry.
