Swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman Joshua Philippe has been in the spotlight even before his arrival in the IPL. Touted as an upcoming superstar, Philippe, 23, is set to be a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore setup where he will be playing under dynamic skipper Virat Kohli. Philippe, who was part of the Australian squad for the England series got his international callup after his exemplary stint in the 2019-20 Big Bash League for the Sydney Sixers, where in just 4 matches, he went on to score three fifties and also earned the Man of the Match award in the final. Although Philippe did not find a place in the Australia XI during the England series, the youngster with his 360 degree skills with the bat is being called the next big thing, at least in the Australian cricketing fraternity. The impact that Philippe has created in such a short time even made AB de Villers say that he sees his younger self in Philippe. From Adam Gilchrist to Steve Smith, big guns have been praising the western Australian and a successful IPL will definitely help him in his rise on the world stage.
